Who hasn’t heard of the amazing Sauti Sol? Well, for starters, Sauti Sol is an all-boy Afro-Fusion band from Nairobi, Kenya. Band members Bien-Aime Baraza, Willis Chimano, Delvin Mudigi and Polycarp Otieno met in high school. They decided to do music professionally in 2005 after they finished high school. Their first single, Lazizi, was a massive hit and paved the way for other Afro-fusion musicians in Kenya. Their debut album,Mwanzo which is Swahili for “beginning”, was released in August, 2009. Their sophomore album, Sol Filosofia, was released in February, 2011.The band has had successful tours in Europe as well as in Africa.
They have been known to win Chaguo La Teeniez (CHAT) Awards- Best Music Group, 2010 as well as the Museke online African Music Awards (MOAMAs), Best Music group, 2010.
Sauti sol has grown to become an inspiration to the Kenyan urban youth, not only musically but also fashion wise. Their well pieced street wear is uber fashionable. They are models of street-wear in Kenya and by now, many youth have mastered how to select wardrobe pieces correctly to come up with a fabulous looking street-wear outfit, thanks to them. They are the ambassadors for Converse Kenya.

Kanye West has taken the fashion industry by storm. He has this distinct sense of style that has everyone trying the “rolled up sleeves blazer look” , coloured skinny jeans and bow ties. Kanye West is fashionably bold and experimental.
Not only is he personally making fashion statements but he is also making the rest of the world look amazing as well with his dw collection that he launched at Paris Fahion Week this year. Super models like Chanel Iman are walking down the runway in his designs. Looking at his dw collection you can see he was going for a very high fashion look. with plunging necklines and fury coats this collection is definately not for the faint hearted. Kanye’s attempts at designing haute couture have been noted but it is a little too early to say. Critics have plenty to say about Kanye’s Dw collection question is…did he set the standards too high by debuting at Paris Fashion Week in the midst of well renowned names like Louis Vuitton, Chanel & Chloe?

He’s collection was highly anticipated by everyone in the world of fashion so living up to the set standard was not going to be easy. whether critics were hating or loving it- they were certainly gonna talk and give it a lot of publicity. There definately was method to Kanye’s madness of show casing at the fashion capital of the world. Not only to gain as much exposure as possible but to leave a distinct mark in the minds of many. Paris fashion week provided a great platform for Kanye to show case Dw. Dw still has to establish itself in the industry before anything else. Kanye’s use of whites, nudes and blacks put a level of sophistication and class on the looks. It also shows what kinda market he is apealing to, the educated fashionistas who are not afraid to dig deep into their pockets and spend all in the name of style.
